F5J - open class

1 - No limit on number or type of cells, all types (NiCd, NiMH, LiIon, LiPol...) are allowed ,
2 - Any type of motor allowed
3 - No limit on motor run time (motor window 5 minutes)
4 - Working time 15 minutes
5 - Flying task - As long as possible gliding in the working time
6 - Bonus for precision landing
7 - Penalty for motor running time in dependence on "imput tension handicap"

For scoring we measure:

- motor running time (measured value "M") one restart allowed
- flying time of the model (measured value "F")
- distance of the model from landing point (measured value "L")

For determination of handicap factor (H) we need to know:

- nominal voltage of accumulators used for flight (value "V")
- nominal capacity of accumulators used for flight (value "C")
- standard imput tension (value "S") what is usual in most cases now

If now we use 10 cells NiXX (nominal voltage 12 V) and capacity 1,25 Ah, then we will have 12,0 V x 1,25Ah = 15 Wh as standard "S"

H = V x C / S
(generally) or by now >

H = V x C / 15

For determination of penalty value (P) we use following formula:

P = M x H

For interpretation of measured data we must use following formula:

R = F+ L - P

R= result in round (points)
F
= flying time from start to landing, or to end of working time (seconds=points)
L = bonus for precise landing (points)
P
= penalty poits (points)

EXAMPLE 1:

I have Sensor-plus model, 2000 mm wingspann, S400 motor, gear 3:1, 8 cells GP1100.....
I have actual input tension 9,6V x 1,1Ah = 10,56
I need 40 s of motor running, if I like start gliding from altitude 220 m (because Sensor slide appr. -0,4 m/s)
I have glyding time 9 minutes and 20 seconds (560 seconds)
Landing for 30 points

My HANDICAP FACTOR is 10,56/15 = 0,704 (H=0,704)
My PENALTY value is 40 x 0,704 = 28,16 (P= 28,16)

My result will be:
R= 560 + 30 - 28,16 = 561,84 points

If I would like better result, I can use 8 cell SANYO 500.....
Then my imput tension will be 9,6V x 0,5Ah = 4,80
My HANDICAP FACTOR is 4,80/15 = 0,32 (H=0,32)
My PENALTY value in this case is 40 x 0,32 = 12,8 (P=12,8)

My result in this case will be:
R = 560 + 30 - 12,8 = 577,2 points

EXAMPLE 2:

I have TANGO model, 2600 mm wingspann, AXI 2826 motor, 7 cells GP2200.....
I have actual input tension 8,4V x 2,2Ah = 18,48
I need 40 s of motor running time, if I like slide approx. 15 minutes
I have glyding time 14 minutes and 15 seconds (855 seconds)
Landing for 15 points

My HANDICAP FACTOR is 18,48/15 = 1,232 (H=1,232)
My PENALTY value is 40 x 1,232= 49,28 (P=40,28)

My result will be:
R= 855 + 15 - 40,28 = 829,72 points

If I would like better result, I can use 16 cells GP1100...
Then my imput tension will be 19,2V x 1,1Ah = 21,12
I will need 20 s of motor running time, if I like slide approx. 15 minutes

My HANDICAP FACTOR is 21,12/15 = 1,408 (H=1,408)
My PENALTY value in this case is 20 x 1,408 = 28,16 (P=28,16)

My result in this case will be:
R = 855 + 15 - 28,16 = 841,84 points
