... NEW CONCEPT OF F5J RULES (part 2)

Thank you to Bruce Edwards from U.K. for help with english terminology and other lanquage problems.

Complete english version coming soon(I hope). Basic principle of new propositions in english you can see here>>>

We recommend two classes for electric sailplanes:

- ENTRY CLASS
- F5J

For both classes we recommend:

1 - No limit on number or type of cells, all types (NiCd, NiMH, LiIon, LiPol...) are allowed ,
2 - Any type of motor allowed
3 - No limit on motor run time
4 - Only one motor run per flight permitted
5 - Working time 10 minutes (600 seconds = 600 points)
6 - Flying task - As long as possible in the working time
7 - Bonus for precision landing (same as in F3J)
8 - Penalty for duration of motor running

For scoring we measure:

- imput power before start (measured value " w ")
- flying time of the model (measured value "G")
- motor running time (measured value"M")
- distance of the model from landing point (measured value "L")

For interpretation of measured data we must use following formula:

R = G + L - M . w/W

R= result in round (points)
G= flying time from start to landing (seconds=points)
L = poits for precise landing (points)
M = motor running time (seconds=points)
w
= imput power of power unit before start (Watt)
W= value of standard imput power (Watt) *

*/
- for "entry class" we recommend 100 W as standard imput power, 200 W max.
- for F5J we recommend 500 W as standard imput power, 1000 W max.

Note:
One example of WATTMETER for modellers with memory you can see here (HiBox)

EXAMPLE 1 (entry class):

I have Sensor-plus model, 2000 mm wingspann, S400 motor, gear 3:1, 8 cells GP1100.....
I have input power with hot accus (measured before start) 110 W
I use motor for 35 seconds
I have total flying time 8 minutes and 50 seconds (530 seconds)
Landing - distance from LP no more than 2 m (95 points)

My result is
R= 530 + 95 - 35 x 110/100 = 530 + 95 - 35 x 1,1 = 625 - 38,5 = 586,5 points

EXAMPLE 2 (entry class):

I have Sensor-plus model, 2000 mm wingspann, MEGA 16/15 motor, gear 4:1, 7 cells GP1100.....
I have input power with hot accus (measured before start) 195 W
I use motor for 25 seconds
I have total flying time 9 minutes and 15 seconds (555 seconds)
Landing - distance from LP no more than 5 m (80 points)

My result is
R= 555 + 80 - 25 x 195/100 = 555+ 80- 25 x 1,95 = 635 - 48,75 = 586,25 points

EXAMPLE 3 (F5J):

I have Sensor-plus model, 2000 mm wingspann, CYCLON MINI ELITE motor/gear, 10 cells GP1100.....
I have input power with hot accus (measured before start) 420 W
I use motor for 14 seconds
I have total flying time 9 minutes and 10 second (550 seconds)
Landing - distance from LP no more than 1 m (100 points)

My result is
R= 550 + 100 - 14 x 420/500 = 555+ 100- 14 x 0,84 = 655 - 11,76 = 643,24 points

EXAMPLE 4 (F5J):

I have TANGO model, 2600 mm wingspann, AXI 2826 motor, 16 cells GP1100.....
I have input power with hot accus (measured before start) 725 W
I use motor for 16 seconds
I have total flying time 9 minutes and 35 seconds (575 seconds)
Landing - distance from LP no more than 3 m (90 points)

My result is
R= 575 + 90 - 16 x 725/500 = 575 + 90- 16 x 1,45 = 665 - 23,2 = 641,8 points
